From NYP to NTU: How an Aspiring Chartered Accountant Chased her Dreams
Aspiring to be an auditor since secondary school, Cindy Toh (Class of 2024) made NYP her first choice to progress to NTU’s Bachelor of Accountancy programme.

Beyond receiving multiple accolades, including repeated recognition on the Director’s List, Cindy exemplified initiative and innovation with her leadership and community spirit. Her passion for financial analysis and compliance, nurtured during her time at NYP, has been a driving force behind her aspirations and achievements.
- Cindy organised green initiatives such as the Geo Freecycle event and the GEO Reco series, educating students about climate change and sustainability. Her efforts as a NYP Geo Council executive member was recognised with the NYP STAR group Award (Merit) for leadership and innovation.
- She also participated in prestigious competitions like the NTU Tax Competition and SMU Tax Case Challenge.
- She developed dashboards to improve operational efficiencies and conducted comprehensive reviews of statutory board budgets while interning at The Accountant-General’s Department. Her efforts earned her the ISCA’s Award as best-performing intern in her cohort.
Cindy spent 24 weeks at the Accountant-General’s Department as part of her final-year internship requirements.
With a strong commitment to develop both personally and professionally, Cindy eventually ranked third in her cohort. She graduated with a Diploma with Merit and achieved the Ernst and Young Bronze Medal Award.
The undergraduate at Nanyang Technological University’s Accountancy Programme envisions her future to be a Chartered Accountant who upholds accountability and integrity in business practices.
