When I first started my Pre-registration Consolidation Practice (PRCP) at AMK-THKM, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness, uncertain about what to expect. However, my Clinical Instructor, Ms. Rosemarie, and the entire ward team quickly set me at ease by crafting a personalised learning plan and a Pre-registration Consolidation Practice (PRCP) programme – specifically designed to address my unique strengths and areas for improvement.
From day one, Ms. Rosemarie played a pivotal role in my learning journey. She was not just an instructor; she was a mentor who provided constant guidance, insightful feedback, and encouragement. Every time I struggled with a skill or felt unsure about a clinical decision, Ms. Rosemarie patiently worked with me, breaking down complex concepts and demonstrating best practices. Her feedback was always constructive, highlighting areas where I could improve and reinforcing the progress I made. This support made a world of difference, boosting my confidence and competence in patient care.
The support didn’t just stop there. Beyond clinical skills, the encouragement and mentorship also developed my communication and professional resilience – essential for my holistic growth as a nurse.
My internship mentor from NYP, Ms. Lee Soi Moi, and the dedicated staff nurses and ward sisters, created a supportive environment where I felt safe to ask questions and seek clarification, no matter how small the issue seemed. Their collective experience and commitment to patient care served as an inspiring example, showing me the impact of compassionate and skilled nursing.
Looking back, my PRCP experience at AMK-THKM was transformative. The mentorship and encouragement I received have left a profound impact on my journey. They have helped me build my confidence, sharpen my critical thinking, and develop my professional values. Their guidance has inspired me to become not just a skilled nurse but also a compassionate and patient-centred healthcare provider, shaping my journey as a future healthcare professional.
