EAE Tips: Applied AI & Analytics (C43)

Interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Analytics technologies and tools? Explore these fields through NYP’s Diploma in Applied AI & Analytics, and efficiently analyse vast amounts of data, uncovering patterns, trends, and anomalies to derive valuable business insights for decision-making. Additionally, you'll gain knowledge in managing data and developing AI-powered Big Data solutions across various industries.

Ideal applicant

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Keen interest in AI and data analytics technologies, especially in pursuing a career in AI and data analytics and helping organisations harness their data and use it to identify new business opportunities;
  • Experience in a school environment (e.g. through a CCA, community activity or a class leadership position) where you learned about various computer technologies, including coding or networks, or in an external context (e.g. data analytics related competitions attended, data analytics related career events or online learning sites for IT and data analytics topics); and
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, creativity, self-improvement and collaboration skills to develop innovative and creative solutions in the IT and data analytics domains.

Shortlisted applicants will be assessed as follows:

Aptitude test

Shortlisted applicants are required to take an aptitude test. The 15-minute aptitude test assesses applicants on numeracy skills, logical thinking, problem solving and creativity.

Interview

If you are shortlisted, you will also be invited for an interview to share more about your passion for the course with a panel of interviewers. You will be assessed on your interest, aptitude, as well as your achievements in both IT and non-IT domains. The duration of the group interview will be about 20 minutes.

Some questions which you may be asked during the interview include:

  • Did you do anything to affirm that IT/data analytics is a career suited for you?
  • Have you tried coding and how was your experience?
  • What motivates you about a career in data analytics?
  • Have you taken part in any competition/CCA that is IT-related?
  • Do you have any experience in coding?
Portfolio (Optional)

You should include in your portfolio, any evidence and/or activities (e.g. IT or data analytics competitions) that showcase your character and involvement relevant to IT or data analytics (such as leadership skills, coding skills). 

 

Examples of what to include in your portfolio:

  • Testimonials 
  • Certificates (e.g. academic, achievement and/or personal development)
  • Awards or participation in IT or data analytics related competitions, at school and/or national level
  • Evidence of IT projects (e.g. coursework or CCA)
  • Relevant learning journeys or Applied Learning Module (ApLM, formerly known as Advanced Elective Modules [AEM])
  • Evidence of leadership activities or roles
  • Participation in CCAs
