Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Design & Media Graduation Show 2023 to showcase young local talent and creativity
Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Design & Media (SDM) launched its Graduation Show 2023 today, showcasing over 15 industry projects produced by the graduating cohort of some 500 graduates.
Held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, the SDM Graduation Show is a showcase of our graduates’ achievements and portfolios accumulated over their three years of studies. 350 graduates from nine diplomas are expected to be present.
Some key projects on display include:
- Moments of Euphoria: A virtual space created by graduates from the Diplomas in Spatial Design and Industrial Design for lifestyle retailer The Atelier & Co to showcase their products and services to customers in an immersive and interactive manner.
- Nickelodeon’s Chinese New Year Social Media Campaign: A series of videos were created by graduates from the Diploma in Motion Graphic Design for Nickelodeon’s social media platforms during the Chinese New Year festive season. These videos aimed to educate young viewers on Chinese New Year traditions and celebrations.
- Asleep in the Deep: An immersive 3D adventure game designed by graduates from the Diplomas in Digital Game Art & Design and Game Development & Technology that allows players to control a cuttlefish character, which in turn, must work with other sea creatures to progress through various levels in the game. This game will be made available on itch.io, an online marketplace for independent creators’ games and content, by mid-2023.
This year’s Graduation Show is split over two nights to cater to industry partners and alumni separately. 360 industry partners are expected to join the Industry Night on 04 April and 350 alumni on 05 April.
An on-site career event will also be held on 04 April, with some 40 employers, including tech giant Tencent and local names like Grandwork Interior and H.A.M. Creations, offering more than 50 job roles. The School has scheduled interviews between graduates and employers, and close to 100 graduates are expected to secure employment prior to their graduation ceremony in May 2023.
Mr Albert Lim, Director of NYP’s School of Design & Media, said: “Our School of Design & Media Graduation Show 2023 is the hallmark of our graduates’ works developed over their three years at NYP, and I am immensely proud of all their achievements. I am also extremely grateful for the strong support from our industry partners who have come forward to recruit our graduates and guide them as they embark on their next lap.
