About this course
Course objectives
The SKILLSFUTURE WORK-STUDY POST-DIPLOMA (SPECIALIST DIPLOMA IN BIOMEDICAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL ENGINEERING) (WSP SD BPE) was first launched in October 2017 in response to the national initiative under MOE SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) to provide Singaporeans or PR with opportunities to upskill or reskill via lifelong learning to establish a career in the biomedical manufacturing sector.
Course objectiveTo train Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMET) in various functions such as production, project management, quality assurance, regulatory compliance and supply chain management in biomedical manufacturing sector.
Course description
The 1-year Work-Study Post-Diploma comprises of two 150-hour Post Diploma Certificates (PDCs):PDC in GxP of Operations Management (OM) - This course provides participants with an in-depth knowledge and good practices for Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) related manufacturing activities of medical devices and combination products with chemicals or biologics. PDC in GxP of Quality Assurance & Compliance (QAC) - This course provides participants with an in-depth knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) with hands-on practices in quality control of medical devices and combination products.
Course delivery
Blended Learning with in-class and online delivery; self-directed Learning (SDL) via Learning Management System at own pace; applied Learning with real workplace problems or situated case studies; Project-based Learning (PBL) to enhance integration & application of knowledge & skills; Situated learning by participating in group discussion & sharing of experience among learners.
Course Certificates
Upon completion of the SKILLSFUTURE WORK-STUDY POST-DIPLOMA (SPECIALIST DIPLOMA IN BIOMEDICAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL ENGINEERING), learners will be awarded the following certificates:Post-Diploma Certificate in GxP of Operations Management

Target audiences
Eligibility to participate in NYP SSG Work-Study Post-Diploma (Specialist Diploma in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Engineering) (WSP SD BPE)
Only Singapore Citizens (“SC”), Singapore Permanent Residents (“PR”) or Long-Term Visit Pass Plus (“LTVP+”) holders, who satisfy one of the following criteria are eligible to participate in the WSP Programme:
(a) Fresh graduates from the local polytechnics who are hired by WSP Participating Company within 36 months after their graduation from the polytechnic (graduation date as stated on the Diploma certificates). This group includes existing employees with Participating Company who have graduated from the polytechnic within the same period. For male participants who need to serve National Service, the 36-month period will start from the Operationally Ready Date (“ORD”); and
(b) In-employment individuals who have graduated from the local polytechnics for more than the 36 months period stated under (a) but within 5 years from the date of graduation or ORD. The admission of this group of individuals into the Programme will be reviewed and approved by NYP on a case-by-case basis depending on appeals or requests from WSP Participating Company.
Note: WSP SD BPE enrolment is subjected to a successful employment by WSP participating companies upon resume review and/or interview. Applicant is required to upload resume detailing prior learning experience at local polytechnic(s) and working experience (if any), diploma certificate(s) and transcripts for admission review.
