In April 2024, our year 3 students embarked on an adventure to unravel the secrets of innovation & enterprise (I&E), sustainability, and life skills within the bird nest industry at Tanjung Balai Karimun, Indonesia.

The journey commenced with a deep dive into the industry challenges, as students gained insights from the perspectives of users. Through critical thinking exercises, students had the unique opportunity to explore a bird house and understand the bird nest processing. Amidst the bustling activity, they identified innovative, enterprising, and sustainability elements embedded within the industry's operations.

Engagement with local entrepreneurs proved crucial as students validated assumptions and gleaned insights into the industry's dynamics. The dialogues also sparked new perspectives, enriching their understanding of the ecosystem.

 

This trip to Tanjung Balai Karimun served as an unforgettable experience, igniting a passion for innovation, sustainability, and lifelong learning among our students. As they return home, they carry with them not only newfound knowledge but also a renewed sense of purpose and resilience.
