Applying to EAE (O-Level)
The Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) helps you secure a place in your preferred course – even before you sit for your O-Level exams. Admission is based on your interest and aptitude for your chosen polytechnic course – rather than academic results. It will also help if you have outstanding achievements in sports, leadership, entrepreneurship, community service, and the arts.
Can I apply?
You must have registered to sit for the O-Levels in the year of your EAE application. You must also be a:
- Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident (PR), or
- International student studying in a Government School, Government-Aided School or Independent School in Singapore.
Successful applicants will get a conditional offer. To secure your admission, your O-Level score will still need to meet the minimum entry and medical requirements of the course.
How do I apply?
Decide and apply
- Choose up to three diploma courses
- Submit the mandatory 600-character write-up for each of the three courses
- Include a 1,000-character write-up on other achievements and talents (optional)
Psst… Count the characters, not the words! Characters include letters, numbers, punctuation and even spaces.
Interview and assessments
- portfolio of works (e.g. sketches, coding works, editorials, robot structures, certificates, etc) - required for design-related courses
- leadership positions or roles in schools and/or CCAs
- achievements, awards, and recommendations
- participation in competitions, workshops, seminars
- depth of passion and interest, and aptitude
In short, tell us why you would be a good candidate for that course.
Application outcome
Successful applicants will get a conditional offer. To secure your admission, your O-Level score will still need to meet the minimum entry requirements and and you will need to meet the medical requirements of the course.
If your NYP offer is confirmed, you will receive NYP enrolment notifications via SMS and email by February. You will need to log in to the NYP e-enrolment system to accept the course offer and complete the enrolment process. Check out the academic calendar on course commencement date.
Note:
- If you decide to change your mind, be sure to withdraw within the withdrawal period (12 Sep - 13 Oct). Otherwise, you will not be eligible to participate in the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) and other polytechnic admissions exercises.
- Applicants who have accepted the conditional offer and met admissions criteria for the offered course will also not be able to switch courses within or across polytechnics.
