School of Applied Science Celebrates Graduation Day
Nanyang Polytechnic's School of Applied Science marked a momentous occasion on 8th May as 383 graduates from 11 courses stepped into the next phase of their journey.
The graduating cohort comprised individuals from various fields, including Applied Chemistry, Biologics & Process Technology, Chemical & Pharmaceutical Technology, Food Science & Nutrition, Pharmaceutical Science, Medicinal Chemistry, Molecular Biotechnology, Applied Science (Food Technology), Advanced Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Specialist Diploma in Clinical Research Management, and Specialist Diploma in Energy and Environmental Management for Process Industry.
One individual that stood out amongst the graduates was Rae Yang, who was honoured with the Distinguished Lee Kuan Yew Award and received the Pfizer Asia Manufacturing Silver Medal for her outstanding academic performance. Rae's influence extended beyond academics, as she served as the Vice President of the NYP Netball Club, leading her team to victories in various competitions. Her internship at A*STAR also showcased her prowess in the field, contributing to the development of innovative technology for healthcare monitoring.
Elliot Loo, a graduate from the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science, shared his thoughts as a representative of the graduating cohort, "Today, I reflect on my journey from being a Polytechnic Foundation Program (PFP) student to this very moment of graduation. I am filled with a mix of emotions - pride, gratitude, and a touch of humility."
He continued, "Entering NYP as a PFP student, I couldn't help but feel a sense of inferiority and inadequacy when compared to my peers entering via the O-Level route. But much of the worries proved to be for nothing as here I am, three years later, doing better than fine."
The graduation ceremony served as a testament to the dedication and perseverance of the graduates. As they embark on new endeavours, they carry with them the knowledge, skills, and memories forged during their time at Nanyang Polytechnic. The Class of 2024 is ready to make meaningful contributions to their respective fields and to society at large.
Congratulations to the graduates, and may their futures be filled with success and fulfilment.
